- Don't use a metal spoon
- Don't refrigerate
- Be sure to transfer to a larger container
- Day 1
- Do nothing the day you receive the starter
- Day 2,3,4
- Stir with a wooden spoon
- Day 5
- Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, and stir
- Day 6,7,8,9
- Stir with a wooden spoon
- Day 10
- Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, and stir
Then pour into 3 containers (1 cup each) and give to 3 friends with these instructions.
To remaining starter add:
2/3 cup oil
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup nuts (optional)
1 cup chopped apples (optional)
1 cup raisins (optional)
Pour into 2 greased and sugared loaf pans
Bake for 50-60 minutes at 350 F
Checkoff each day:
- Day 1 do nothing
- Day 2 stir
- Day 3 stir
- Day 4 stir
- Day 5 add
- Day 6 stir
- Day 7 stir
- Day 8 stir
- Day 9 stir
- Day 10 add
