The first music is on an unnumbered page, the last 3 pages of music are also unnumbered, there are lots of blank "pages", etc. So what I've done is used just the pages that have music, and numbered them successively. This page counter is used for the first 2 digits of the file names, and 1 more digit is used to count the musical "items" on a page. Here's a list of these pages: LOC music pagetop first page page numbers text -- 00 (none) POTPOURRI FRANÇOIS (title page) -- 01 2 1 Les Visites 2 02 6 9 Les Biscuits 3 03 7 9 9 Air Les Biscuits pour ... 6 04 4 6 Les petits Ballets 8 05 2 1 Le Cadrille 10 06 4 4 La Course Italienne 12 07 6 7 La Casandre 16 08 2 1.e la Marthiny 18 09 4 4 Les Jolies filles 20 10 6 7 Les Ormeaux 24 11 2 1 La lanterne Magique 26 12 4 4 Les fanfares de St Cloux 28 13 6 7 La petite provence 32 14 2 1 La petite Provencalle 34 15 4 4 Les Carmes 36 16 6 7 La Dragonne 40 17 2 1 Dame francoisse 42 18 4 4 La lionnoise 44 19 7 6 La Neuvenne 48 20 2 1 Les Ages 50 21 4 3 La Royal 52 22 6 5 La Silvie 54 23 8 8 Les Soeurs 58 24 2 1 1er Les Cerceaux 60 25 4 4 La Brancas 62 26 6 7 La Traci 66 27 2 1 Les Plaisirs dela Société 68 28 4 4 La Volupteuse 70 29 6 7 La Therêse 74 30 2 2 La Segure ou lison 76 31 4 4 La Suzette 78 32 6 7 La Queueduchat 82 33 2 1er La Marquise 82 33 2 1er La Marquise 84 34 4 4 La Nlle Venitiene 86 35 6 7 La Marche espagnolle __ 36 2 1 Le Tembourin de chartre __ 37 4 4 Lencienne Dauphine __ 38 6 7 La Bavaroize If more music-related info is found, this may require some modification. It should be noted that the pages of music are adjacent to a page of dance instructions. The music is on the left, the dance figures are on the right. This can be easily seen from the visible curvature of the right margins of the music pages. If we want to transcribe the dance instruction pages, we might want to modify the above numbering to include them. Also, at http://chamusique.pagesperso-orange.fr/PDF/Landrinsommaire.pdf there is a Table of Contents for this document, using a numbering system based on counting the dances (2 digits) and the tunes within the dance (1 digit). It might make sense to renumber the tunes this way, and include the dance for each tune within the tune's file. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The repeat notation is inconsistent. If a phrase has a repeat at either end, I've added one at the other end to keep ABC software happy, as well as to suggest to human readers a likely repeat pattern. There are many annotations like "2.f.", which presumably means "deux fois" (two times), sometimes with other numbers. This may be revised to fit whatever dance you may use these tunes for. Also, most tunes have internal end-of-strain symbols that resemble "|:|", two vertical lines with four vertical dots between them. There may be the usual two-dot repeat indicator on either side, though these aren't always matched by a two-dot repeat indicator at the other end of the strain. When the outer repeat dots are missing, I've transcribed this separator as "|][|". = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The original has tall, narrow pages. The transcription has been arranged to work on A8 and US-letter pages at a fairly small-scale print size, with 6- or 8-bar staff lines. This should be rearranged to fit your needs, of course, since it's not actual musical information. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
