The Davis Square "guerilla contra" collection
For a few years now, Jeff Kaufman has been the
ringleader of an informal "flash mob" style contra dance in Davis Square,
Somerville, Massachusetts, USA, on random evenings when good weather is
predicted. They are only organized a few days ahead of time, for weather
reasons. Calling and music are provided by whoever shows up. Email is sent
to a lot of the "usual suspects", and there's a
facebook page"
for the event. This is an unofficial list of the tunes that are likely to
be played, though this depends a lot on whatever musicians are present.
