Please contact me for more information, or for a PDF version of the instructions and diagrams of the figures. = = = = = = = = = = Sheila Morris's Strathspey: 32 bar Strathspey for 4 couples in a longwise set. Devised by David LeBrocque, Graceville: Music-Ross Meor Bars 1-8 All couples dance right shoulder reels of 4 on own side. Bars 9-12 1st couple with 2nd couple, 3rd couple with 4th couple dance right hands across once round. Bars 13-16 1st couple cast off one position; 2nd couple retaining hands dance up and curve into 1st position. MEANWHILE 4th couple cast up one position; 3rd couple retaining hands dance down and curve into 4th position (finish 2, 1, 4, 3). Bars 15-16 All join hands on the sides and set. Bars 17-24 2nd couple with 1st couple, 4th couple with 3rd couple dance double figures of 8 with progression: To begin: 2nd and 4th couples cross down, 1st and 3rd couples dance up the outside. Bars 23-24 1st couple cross down the middle of the set to 3rd position on own side while 4th couple dance up the outside of the set to 2nd position on own side (finish 2, 4, 1, 3). Bars 25-26 All join hands on the sides and set. Bars 27-30 All turn partners with both hands. Bars 31-32 All join hands and set, all turning up or down ready to repeat. Repeat 3 times. = = = = = = = = = = This dance was commissioned by the Graceville Club of the Queensland Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, in honour of Sheila Morris, a much loved dancer and friend. We enjoyed Sheila's company for 20 years, firstly when we danced at Upper Brookfield, and then at Graceville. First danced in her memory on Friday 10th October, 2003.
