JC's HTML viewer's test files

This directory contains some test files for debugging HTML. First, we show an annotated list of the main documents. Then the regular directory listing will follow, so you can get the individual files if you wish.

A table row of images of banners that should be adjacent.

A text row of images of banners that should be adjacent.

JavaScript to identify the browser and send different text to different kinds of browsers.
ClientInfo.html
Illustrates the sort of information that a JavaScript-enabled browser may send back to a CGI script on the server side without the user realizing that anything has happened.

Shows you what Java knows about the time.
DateTime_JS.html
Shows you what JavaScript knows about the time.
FrameUpdate3.html
A page with three frames, and links that update all or a subset of the frames.
HEADER.html
The document that you're looking at now, sent by the server before the index.html file.
HR1.html
A line of text with a HR tag in the middle. Should display as two lines separated by a horizontal line.
HR1pre.html
Preformatted text with a HR tag in the middle. Different browsers may display this differently.
HR2.html
Some text, a HR tag, and more text, on three lines.
HR2pre.html
Some preformatted text on several lines, with HR tags in several place. Different browsers may display this differently.
HeightWidth.html
JavaScript that tries several ways to determine the window size.
IfJS.html
A page that tests whether JavaScript is enabled.
ImgPreload.html
Two pages; the first preloads an image and presents a link to the second page. When you click on the link, the second page should be displayed without loading the image. You might want to start a tail -f on your server log first, to verify that loads happen correctly. This will only work if JavaScript is enabled in your browser.
JScountdown.html
A JavaScript test that accepts a number and counts it down once per second. When the counter hits zero, a popup message is produced in a new window.

A META tag that Microsoft claims will cause all of a page's contents to expire immediately. It doesn't seem to always work.
