How to transfer a domain name.

Chatted with Mila T. at namecheap.com ...

1. Get EPP key for the domain from current registrar. They should
send you a message that says something like:

   EPP key: 9Lk<&#114upiWzex

2. Send it to receiver.

Got notice from web.com that roaringjelly.org is expiring 2014-11-4.
Couldn't figure out how much it would cost to renew through them. Due to
this and other annoying problems, I'll try to transfer the domain name to
  namecheap.com.

Filled in transfer forms at namecheap.com ... Order 12681125 placed on Sep
20, 2014 08:36 PM. Got email saying they need the EPP key; web.com seems to
have nothing that provides it, and their phone support is only open 9-5
  M-F.

Found web.com's "support" web page; sent a message asking how to get an EPP
key code. Got a reply telling me the code; sent a reply to the nameceap.com
  message giving them the code.

No further replies, and no signs (via dig, nslookup, whois) of any change.
Rereading the messages reached the understanding that sending them the code
probably didn't work; they required filling in a form that they'd sent me
the link to. After going around the circle of loging in, following links,
and being told again to log in, several times, I finally stumbled across a
place to enter the code. Received reply "EPP code has been submitted
successfully. You should receive your transfer approval email within the
next 24 hours." So more waiting and checking ...

At 2:03pm EDT a message arrived at my gmail address from namecheap.com,
asking me (as the owner of the domain) to verify the transfer, by clicking
on a link, which I did. This asked me to approve the transfer by clicking a
SUBMIT button, which I did at 4:04pm EDT.

At 4:47pm I got a message a source identified only by its "OpenSRS" logo,
saying that the request for a domain transfer for roaringjelly.org had been
received, and linked to an address to accept or decline the transfer. The
line was to a page at approve.domainadmin.com, and included a "Transfer
Key". I followed the link, to a page that let me check two choices, to
accept and approve or to decline the transfer to something or someone
called 5065-EN. I checked the "Accept" choice, and hit the Submit button.
  What'll happen next? ...

At 11:30pm, a message arrived from NameCheap.com saying that the transfer
was complete, and including a link to https://support.namecheap.com/ for
further "questions or concerns". At namecheap.com, my list of domains now
includes roaringjelly.org. A bit of checking still seemed to show web.com
as the registrar associated with my domain; I'll check occasionally to see
when this might change. So the complete transfer actually lasted less than
a day, about 14 hours total.
