%% Special note for v.1:
%% The other 3 volumes of Kerr's Merry Melodies have the tunes numbers sequentially,
%% starting from 1 and increasing through the book.
%% Volume 1 is oddly different:
%% Most tunes have 1- or 2-digit numbers that usually start at 1 from the top of a page,
%% sometimes continuing on the next page.
%% But the numbers aren't always sequential, and there are several different patterns.
%% The oddest may be page 8, whose tunes are numbered 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4.
%% Another is page 27, with tunes numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, plus 3 more unnumbered tunes.
%% The simplest file-name scheme that gives the book's tune order has names of
%% the form VPPSNN, where V (volume) is always 1, PP is the page number,
%% S is the "series" number (1-3) that counts the sets of tunes with
%% increasing numbers, and NN is the number within the segment.
%% There are several sets of tunes that fill 2 or 3 pages, and have increasing
%% numbers throughout, and those are usually given a series number 0.
%% Another way to view this is that the file names are VPPNNN,
%% where the first digit of the tune number NNN is increased by 1 when
%% the tune number restarts at 1 inside a page.
%% Further comments may be found in the files named VPP000_.abc
%% which occur as "interesting" problems arise.
